Blower door testing is a way to test the "Airtightness" of your home. This is achieved by installing a blower door which consist of an adjustable frame, door covering and fan into the opening of an exterior door way. Once installed, the adjustable fan pulls air out of the house and a flow gauge measures the amount of air that passes through the fan. Based on the size of the house or building and the amount of air that flows through the fan will give us the rate of air flow through your house or business. This rate flow (Air changes per Hour) will tell us just how your home or business compares to an energy efficient home that is built today.
As part of this process, we will inspect the house to find the potentially hidden air leaks. We also offer blower door testing as an isolated service to test the effectiveness of improvements that have been made to a home and to provide homeowners and contractors with a roadmap to further improve a home's efficiency moving forward.
In addition to being a critical component of a whole house energy audit, blower door testing is also required for many home to pass building codes, qualify for green and energy efficient building standards nationwide.
